I thought you might like to see an up-date of work on pipes headed for Chicago. These pipes were freshly stained today; in a couple days I will add my nomenclature and the finishing. The large volcano has a spectacular straight grain on the bowl sides and shank with bird’s eye on the front of the bowl, top of the shank, bottom, and rim. All I can say is it is as perfect a block of briar as I have seen.
The other pipe is a large billiard with a vintage Bakelite stem. And yet another, a rustication with continuous vertical lines, a .925 antique silver band, and a new marbleized ebonite brown/black stem.
And the last, is a freeform nearing completion that has a breath taking straight and birds eye. The stem is a green/black ebonite. All these pipes are available to my mailing list friend only. Email me or call.
The 10-1/2” bamboo shank pipe also has a perfect straight grain completely around the bowl with a beautiful birds eye rim. This pipe will be sold as a set, pipe and stand. The stand is an end cut of briarroot; highly polished, it holds the pipe perfectly secure. Any one that is going to the Chicago show on May 2,3rd please stops by our table.
Jennifer is almost finished with our joint venture pipe (really all I did was the drilling of the briar and stem.) The pipe stand for this pipe is a work of art in it’s carving, she is in the polishing stage and finishing of the stem. The nomenclature will be J&J Rinaldi venture and date. We both are very excited about this pipe and stand. I will post up-date images in a couple days, so please check back.
